At Present India Has The World Largest Population Of Young People.The Ministry Of Statistics &Programme Implementation In Its National Sample Survey Defines Youth Those Failing In Between 15-29 Years Of Age. A Variety Of Surveys On This Particular Age Group Conducted In Diverse Fields Brings To Light Several Problems And Challenges For India In Reaping Its Demographic Dividend.
Challenges The Labour Force Participation Rate Of The Across The Last Three Annual Surveys Shows That There Was A Decline In Workforce Participation In 2015-16 To The Two Previous Year.
The High Rate Of Unemployment Among The Youth With Higher Educational Qualification Raises Serious Concern. There Are Three Probabilities.Either Our Education Fails To Address The Issue Of Employ ability Of The Youth Or The Jobs Available Do Not Match The Aspirants Of The Youth.A Third Possibility Could Be A Scarcity Of Jobs Opted For The Youth.
According To The ASER 2017 Study Conducted On 14-18 Years Olds, It Was Found That A Majority Were Working Irrespective Of Being In Formal Education Or Not.Three Quarters Of The Youth Surveyed Were Involved In Daily Household Chores.The Study Also Looked Into The Preparedness Of The Youth Entering The Labour Market And It Was Found That Even Among Those Who Had Completed Eight Years Of Schooling,A Significant Proportion Lacked Foundational Skills In Reading And Doing Maths.
