It Should be Banned ?
Watching obscene images and videos often has some psychological effect on people. Moreover, the whole thing has become a trend now, rather a bad trend…it’s not productive or helpful in any way. One should learn to refrain one’s sexual urges through self-control and not by watching porn. Some say that it’s like a vent, but actually it’s a stimulator. Has a tendency of agitating even the peaceful minds. It’s not right and obviously it’s not our culture. And even if it was, let’s not promote it further. One should always be prepared for a change, for the greater good.
Recently, Delhi police arrested a person who raped about 30 children under the influence of porn and liquor. And this one’s not the only case. We hear about it daily.
And especially when we talk about a more digitised and tech-savvy world, then obviously we will have to regulate it a bit. So that technology can be utilised for uplifting and not destabilising our coming generations.
One very lasting effect is Psychological factor and its on various age group, most brutal is on children who are becoming more and more inclined over such activities, leading to bullying and voyeurism.
Other aspect as you stated related to dishonouring woman, and taking the porn as ideal level of sex activities without thinking that these are well trained sex athletes.
Other negative and really scary aspect of Porn industry is human trafficking esp. of girls and children, if we see more closely search options and site demand leads to extortion and trafficking of particular race such as indian or asian.
Its all together a evil thats rising altogether through our actions if we are not conscious enough to control and stop it
It is argued that it is every individual’s basic freedom to watch porn within the four walls of house, but we cannot neglect the rising rape cases especially in which juveniles are involved. Today when almost everyone has easy access to internet through phone, porn might a major cause behind it.

It should not be banned ?

if banning a few websites would stop the immorality and the frequent cases of rape is a misnomer. it is something that has been tried and tested and has proven ineffective. furthermore there are ways of watching such things online through simple ways of hacking and use of proxy websites.
As the SC in it’s judgement has also pointed out by the CJI on July 8 when Vaswani’s counsel Vijay Panjwani repeatedly stressed for a ban on websites circulating pornography. The CJI had said banning child pornography was one thing but to ask for a ban on adult websites needed careful and detailed debate.
The CJI had asked if a man wanted to watch adult websites within the four walls of his house, could he be said to have violated any law.
Can a knee jerk reaction be an alternative for a fundamental problem?
The solution lies in providing early sex education, broad and open, at school as well as home. The more you conceal, the more eagerness you create.
There is no accepted research directly relating pornography to aggressive behaviour.
Look at the flip side, it keeps many predators off the street. Many might use it to kick off frustration.

Infringement on ones freedom?

In July this year, a bench headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu dismissed a plea seeking to ban pornography in the country, questioning whether a ban of such nature  would not be an infringement on ones freedom.

“Such interim orders cannot be passed by this court. Somebody may come to the court and say look I am above 18 and how can you stop me from watching it within the four walls of my room. It is a violation of Article 21 [right to personal liberty]
