India Water Impact Summit 2018 Was Jointly Organized By The National Mission For Clean Ganga (NMCG) And The Centre For Ganga River Basin Management And Studies Recently In New Delhi. Key Points

It Is An Annual Event Where Stakeholders Get To Discuss ,Debate And Develop Model Solutions For Some Of The Biggest Water-Related Problems In The Country.

The Discussions This Year Was On The Rejuvenation Of The Ganga River Basin.

The Summit Introduced The Inaugural Ganga Financing Forum That Will Bring A Number Of Institutions Forum That Will Bring A Number Of Institutions To A Common Knowledge ,Information And Partnership Platform. The Financing Forum Will Bring Together Financial Institutions And Investors Interested In Namami Gange Programme.

National Mission For Clean Ganga (NMCG).

NMCG Was Registered As A Society On August 12,2011 Under The Societies Registration Act,1860

It Acted As An Implementation Arm Of National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) Which Was Constituted Under The Provisions Of The Environment (Protection) Act(EPA) ,1986.

NGRBA Was Dissolved In October 2016, Consequent To Constitution Of National Council For Rejuvenation, Protection And Management Of River Ganga (Referred As National Ganga Council)

The Act Envisages Five Tier Structure At National ,State And District Level To Take Measures For Prevention, Control And Abatement Of Environmental Pollution In River Ganga.

National Ganga Council Under The Chairmanship Of Prime Minister Of India.

Empowered Task Force (ETF) On River Ganga Under The Chairmanship Of Union Minister Of Water Resources, River Development And Ganga Rejuvenation.

Central Government Funds 100% Expenses For Various Activities And Projects. Centre Will Also Take Care Of The Assets For A Minimum 10 Year Period, And Adopt A PPP/SPV Approach For Pollution Hotspots. After This, Assets Will Be Handed Over To State.

The Summit Focused On Showcasing  Ongoing Water Conservation Efforts In States Of Uttarakhand Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal ,Delhi And Bihar.
