    What's Educational Qualification required to apply CDS Exam?

    For IMA /OTA: A degree from a recognised University or equivalent.

    Naval Academy: B.Sc. with Physics and/or Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering.

    Air Force Academy: B.Sc. of a recognized University or equivalent with Physics and/or Mathematics as subjects or Bachelor of Engineering.

    What is the age limit for CDS Exam?

    For IMA: Unmarried male candidates between 19-24 years on 1st January or 1st July of the year succeeding the year of examination.

    Naval Academy: Unmarried male candidates between 19-22 years on 1st January or 1st July of the year succeeding; the year of examination.

    Air Force Academy: Unmarried male candidates between 19-23 years on 1st January or 1st July of the year succeeding the year of examination.

    Officers Training Academy: Male candidates (married or unmarried) between 19-25 years on 1st January or 1st July of the year succeeding the year of examination.

    What are the maximum number of attempts one can given in CDS?

    The number of attempts of CDS written Examination depends on ones age group and one needs to be in last year of graduation in any field.

    For IMA if one is in last year graduation he can avail a maximum of 10 chances. Similarly for INA one gets again 10 chances
    for OTA a total of 12. Again provided 2 conditions are correct.
    a. Your age fits the given bracket, and,
    b. You have passed or appearing in last year graduation.

    What stipend does one receive being in IMA / AFA / OTA / INA?

    Stipend to Gentlemen or Lady Cadets during the entire duration of training in Service academies i.e. during training period at IMA and OTA. Rs 56,100/-p.m.* (Starting pay in Level 10).

    For Airforce Candidates Cadets are authorised fixed stipend amounting to Rs. 21,000/- per month (Rs. 15,600/- pay in the pay band and Rs. 5,400/-as grade pay) during training. “On successful completion of training the stipend admitted will be converted as pay for all purposes. However, the period of training shall not be treated as commissioned service.”

    Once flight cadets are granted pay and allowances by government, the death cover would be Rs. 50,000/- and the disability cover would be Rs. 25,000/- for 100% disability. This cover would be provided by AFGIS on payment of monthly non- refundable contribution of Rs. 76/- by each flight cadet undergoing flying training for which membership would be compulsory.

    What age group can apply for CDS 1 2022 Examination?

    (i) For IMA—Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd Jan, 1999 and not later than 1st Jan, 2004 only are eligible.
    (ii) For Indian Naval Academy—Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd Jan, 1999 and not later than 1st Jan, 2004 only are eligible.
    (iii) For Air Force Academy— 20 to 24 years as on 1st Jan, 2022 i.e. born not earlier than 2nd Jan, 1999 and not later than 1st Jan, 2004 (Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 yrs. i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January, 1997 and not
    later than 1st Jan, 2002) only are eligible.
    Note: Candidate below 25 years of age must be unmarried. Marriage is not permitted during training.
    Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to apply but during training period they will neither be provided married accommodation nor can they live with family out of the premises.
    (iv)For Officers’ Training Academy—(SSC Course for men) unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1997 and not later than 1st July, 2003 only are eligible.
    (v) For Officers’ Training Academy—(SSC Women Non-Technical Course) Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born not earlier than 2nd July, 1997 and not later than 1st July, 2003.

    How many seats are there in CDS?

    Well a total of 418 seats are available for all the candidates. They are further divided up in the following manner.

    IMA (Indian Military Academy), Dehradun: Total Seats Available 100
    INA (Indian Naval Academy), Ezhimala: Total Seats Available 45
    AFA (Airforce Academy), Hyderabad: Total Seats Available 32
    OTA (Officers Training Academy), Chennai: Total Seats Available 225 (Men)
    OTA (Officers Training Academy), Chennai: Total Seats Available 16 (Women)

    What are the names of the CDS written exam centres in India?

    We are placing the names of the CDS written exam centres according to Alphabetical order:

    Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Allahabad, Bengaluru, Bareilly, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Dharwad, Dispur, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Imphal, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Jorhat, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji (Goa), Patna, Port Blair, Raipur, Ranchi, Sambalpur, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, Udaipur and Vishakhapatnam.

    The major cities of Punjab do not have CDS Centres for Papers such as Patiala, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Moga, Gurdaspur, Mohali and Amritsar do not have CDS Centers for examination as a regional centre, so students from there flock to Chandigarh to give their paper. Similar is the case for students and wards from Himachal Pradesh belonging to cities such as Dharamshala, Kangra, Mandi, Solan , Hamirpur, Kasauli, Bilaspur, Kullu, Palampur, the wards from there go and give there paper in Shimla as the main centre.

    The students from Haryana from cities such as Hisar, Panipat, Sonipat, Rohtak, Panchkula, Ambala, Sirsa will Fill either Chandigarh or Delhi as their main CDS centre for examination.

    What all services can you apply through CDS Written Examination?

    The CDS written examination, as we define it in full form. Meaning, Combined Defence Services. One can apply into various streams like Indian Military Academy meaning a permanent commission . Moving on, one can join Indian Naval Academy. Officers Training Academy one can apply it is for short service commission. Finally, one can apply for Airforce Academy.

    When will CDS 1 2022 application be made available and last date to fill the form?

    The CDS 1 2022 applications will be made available on the following dates:
    Admission forms open online: 22 Dec 2021
    Last date of Application : 11 Jan 2022
    Exam Date : 10 April 2022
    Result: Declared after 100 days from the paper maximum.

    How to apply for CDS Exam?

    For filing up the CDS application form one needs to follow the following set of Instructions

    1. Go log onto https://www.upsc.gov.in/apply-online
    2. One then needs to fill all in the details mentioned in the form.
    3. Do not worry you cant go wrong.
    4. As if you miss something automated message will come.
    5. You will also need to enclose your digital photo and digital signature.
    6. And, Finally one needs to fill the centre of examination. Fill one closest to you.
    7. In Conclusion, you will play 100 rupees and take out the copy of the form.
    8. Note, make sure you fill you preferences properly.
