Hello candidates, we thought of going through what is the CDS paper in this article since most of the candidates wanted to know about it. In this article we will try covering the entire CDS pattern and the syllabus and we hope that this article will be of immense help to those who want to give the CDS examination.
What is CDS?
CDS or Combined Service Examination is a written exam which is conducted twice every year, generally in the month’s of February and September/November . The notification for the exam comes in the month of December and June. This is one the ways by which a candidate can join the Indian defence Services. It is conducted by Union Public Service Commission(UPSC)
How can one apply for it?
one can apply for it through online only. Male candidates have to pay a minimal fee to apply for this exam, while female candidates and some special candidates have a fee concession to apply for this form.
Who can give CDS?
Both male and female candidates can apply for this exam, provided they are eligible by their age an educational qualifications.
What are services can one apply for it through this form?
Male candidates can apply for Army (Both Short Service and Permanent Commission in Non-Tech Field, trained in Officers Training Academy and Indian Military Academy), Navy (Permanent Commission, Trained in Naval Academy) and AirForce (Permanent Commission in Flying Branch only Trained in Air Force Academy). Women can only apply for Indian Army, through Short Service Commission in Non-tech Field, that is OTA entry.
What is the age limit for CDS written Examination?
19-24 Years: Indian Military Academy
19-22 Years: Naval Academy
19-23 Years: Air Force Academy
19-25 Years: Officers’ Training Academy
Most important is this age is the date of joining not date of appearing for the paper
What is the minimum requirement for CDS written examination in terms of educational qualification?
IMA & OTA: Degree from any recognized University or equivalent
Naval Academy: B.Sc. with Physics & Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering
Air Force Academy: B.Sc. with Physics and/or Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering
